Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Psychologists hold a doctoral degree (PsyD, or PhD) in psychology, focusing their graduate school and post graduate training in the theory and practice of psychology. In practice, evaluating a person’s mental state, personality, and cognitive factors, developing a treatment plan, and implementing the treatment through counseling is the main job of a psychologist. As a neuropsychologist, my training has extended into the brain functions and how different parts of the brain work, assessment of cognitive domains and treatment interventions to improve overall or specific areas of cognitive functioning. Psychiatrists hold a medical degree, and most typically, these days, find the correct prescription for medication intervention. Some psychiatrists may be trained in psychoanalysis, as well.

Please email or call the number on the Contact information so that I may speak with you directly to schedule an appointment.

At this time, I am not covered by insurance. I can, however, provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance if you have out of network coverage to get reimbursed. Companies differ in their reimbursement schedule and policy. There are many practices that do take insurance. The best way to find a provider in your network is to call the customer service number on your insurance card (some insurances may have a specific number for behavioral health) and to ask for a list of specialist providers in the area you are having difficulty with (such as grief, PTSD, anxiety, etc).

In therapy, you should have a warm, safe place to process your issues and develop a continued plan for growth. You should feel supported, encouraged, and appreciated for whom you are, while looking to improve the areas of your life that may not be as healthy, or as successful, as you would like in your mental health.

Please call me for my hours and availability, as this may vary.

Yes, your therapy sessions are confidential, and we will discuss the limits of such confidentiality at the time of our first appointment.

I do provide virtual or telephonic sessions for those in need. For example, professionals or college students that may not be able to attend in-person sessions, or may use a “hybrid” approach with some virtual visits and some in person visits. I work with your needs. I am also available in the office for “in-person” visits. Together, we can discuss the best options for you and your therapeutic journey.
